Introductory Comments from Nancy Carroll about the EBF History Video:
About three weeks ago, Rick Siel asked me to sort through two large boxes of EBF pictures and slides, then decide what to do with them before we turn our cupboards over to University Fellowship. When it was planned to have a praise service to honor the Lord for what He has done here during the last 51 years, creating a slide show seemed like the perfect solution. I had video help from Charlie Litchfield, and the soundtrack includes Neil and Kathy Patton and songs by Jeff Brock, the first EBF worship leader. It is a bit long…. but 50 years in 15 minutes seems about right!
Due to periodic purging around here, as well as the mists of time, we are missing some important photos. There are none from our time at Sheldon Community Center or later at Sheldon High School where we met for the first seven years. And we are missing the faces of many EBFers—for example, the Marv Rexius family who helped start and then lead EBF for many years.
We have had a number of missionaries, but this recognizes the four individuals and couples that have spent 20+ years on the field. Of those, of course, John Jette and Mary Haag have served their entire working lives.
We have had scores of retreats, BBQs, VBS’s, Mexico Mission trips, homeless Guest Weeks, and ministry happenings large and small. This slide show is a representative sample of that history. Thousands of people have come through our doors, heard God’s Word, and been discipled in their walk with Him.
Some of you may be concerned about soon being overwhelmed by large numbers of people; please notice in the photos that at times in our past the walls were bursting with people, and God’s love and provision made it do-able! EBF has had times of rejoicing and times of sorrow, but the Lord has always been faithful to his people and brought us through—and we are rejoicing that that is true this time as well. Remember, it is not about EBF, but about honoring the Lord and building His kingdom! And we get to be a part of that on-going story!
Psalm 105 says,
“Oh, give thanks to the Lord, call upon His name;
Make known His deeds among the peoples.
Sing to Him, sing praises to Him;
Tell of his wondrous works!
Remember the wondrous works that He has done!”
And I will add:
Oh, you people of His Church,
Look forward with anticipation
To His mighty works yet to come!
