“Dear children, let us not love with words or tongue but with actions and in truth.” (1 John 3:18)
Greetings in the name of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. I am writing to ask you to join me and other fellow EBF members for our next Food Drive on May 3rd and 4th to benefit families in need. We are in the process of delivering the last batches from our 1st food drive in the next few days. Almost three dozen families, from our church and through our local school, each received close to $90 in groceries and were grateful for our help. Many thanks to those who contributed. During this continuing slowdown in our country there continues to be people all around us who are out of work and whose finances are stretched thin. This is a very practical way to show the love of Christ—that those who have can provide…”out of their plenty to supply those who have need…” (II Cor. 8:14)
So, on Sunday, May 3rd from 12-4pm and Monday, May 4th from 4-7pm we will receive drive-up food donations at the front entrance of EBF. As before, in order to eliminate direct exposure between people we ask that you have your food donations in bags or boxes in your trunk, so that the person collecting the food can retrieve them out of your trunk with minimal physical contact. All containers of food will then be stored until the following week to minimize possible cross-contamination. After this, the food will be divided into family portions for distribution. We will distribute the food using similar procedures on Monday, May 11 from 2 to 6pm. Larger quantities, i.e. 20 lbs bag of beans, will be divided under careful conditions into individual family-sized portions.
Please note that we will also accept cash or checks (made out to EBF) to purchase additional food like fresh meat or vegetables. If you wish, you can designate your check to the church benevolent fund to help meet non-food needs as well.
The address of the church is: Emerald Bible Fellowship, 1855 Cal Young Rd, Eugene, 97401. We are also asking for anybody who would like to ‘adopt’ a family and commit to take food to that particular family each week. Please email the office (firstname.lastname@example.org) if you would like to serve in this way.
Notes on food: Any perishable or non-perishable food items that will keep for two weeks will be accepted, and those needing refrigeration will be cared for appropriately. We do not have much freezer space, so please do not donate any frozen foods. Paper and cleaning products are needed as well.
