Service Ministries

Want to be involved or need assistance? Emerald Bible Fellowship provides resources to meet the spiritual and physical needs of our family and community. We demonstrate our love for Jesus Christ by loving others. "Our love for one another is a response to and a consequence of Christ’s love for us." (John 4:19-2) Furthermore, we are told that we are to "express God’s love to others with our actions, not just with words." (John 3:16-18)

True to our purpose as a church, our caring for one another is a means of reaching others with the life-changing reality of Jesus Christ, because it is an essential part of our witness to the world (John 13:35).

Administrative

Leader: Shari Keyser
Provides coordination for the Deacon Ministry. Also seeks out and arranges for volunteers to perform various tasks in the church office.

WAYS TO SERVE
• Answering phones

• Folding and collating bulletins and newsletters.

• Make deacon meeting arrangements
• Communicate with deacons on various topics

Building & Grounds

Leader: Arnold Hultberg
Provides care and regular upkeep for all EBF properties.

Food Cupboard

Leader: Lorna Burnell
Provides nonperishable food supplies to meet the basic needs of people both inside and outside of the church family.

Greeters & Newcomers

Leader: Nancy Carroll
Welcomes and cares for each person who shows an interest in or visits any of our gatherings. Committed to demonstrating the love and grace of Jesus Christ to all who visit without creating obligation to join.

WAYS TO SERVE
• Greet people prior to church get-togethers.
• Provide help at the information booth.
• Make follow-up calls to those who fill out Response Forms.
• Send cards to those who have not attended for a period of time.
• Setup refreshments for Newscomer's Sessions the first Sunday of each month.

Helping Hands Home Repair

Leader: Jim Hart
Providing cost-free repairs to any person (inside or outside the EBF family) who cannot afford to pay for needed repairs around the home.

WAYS TO SERVE
• Carpet and tile installation
• Auto repair
• Appliance repair
• Drywall, wallpapering, and painting
• General carpentry
• Plumbing and electrical work
• Roofing
• Concrete work
• Yard maintenance

Home Fellowship Groups

Leaders: Kim Wenger & Stan Davis
These are weekly gatherings in homes all over town on various nights for the purposes of growing in Christ, the Truth. Primary aspects of the groups are study, prayer, fellowship, and connecting with other believers for friendship and service.

It can be difficult to connect with other believers and build supportive relationships when only gathering for Sunday morning worship services. In a home group people are able to study the Bible together and discuss practical applications. They pray for each other's needs, care for one another, and are missed when they are absent. Home Fellowship Groups can also provide invaluable support during those difficult times we all face.

Becoming part of a small group will help you feel like you belong and are growing in Christ. We encourage everyone who calls EBF home to join one of these vital groups to better experience the "one another's" of the Christian life in a community of believers.

Hospital & Visitation

Leader: Jonnie Launch
Providing presence, comfort, spiritual encouragement, and practical helps to those struggling with physical infirmities, whether in the hospital or at home.

WAYS TO SERVE
• Volunteer to go on home or hospital visits.
• Read Bible scriptures and pray with patient and/or family members.
• Send greeting cards, flowers, or balloons.
• Offer to make bouquets of cut flowers from your yard.
• Evaluate whether other EBF ministries are needed and coordinate with the Prayer Chain, Meals, and Elders.

Hospitality

Leader: Laura Powell
Provides opportunities for getting to know others within the EBF family in order to strengthen unity and outreach.

Library

Leader: Gay Brown
Provides and organizes quality Christian literature to enhance the growth of people's love for God and others.

Meals

Leader: Gwen Newman
Serving families at EBF during times of illness, surgery, birth of a child, or other stressful life circumstances by providing meals that are "ready-to-eat" (heat and serve).

WAYS TO SERVE
• Be on a list to be called to prepare and deliver meals.
• Cook a meal - sometimes on short notice (you pick the day!).
• Purchase preprepared meals such as pizza or KFC.
• Call people and organize the distribution of meals (no cooking required!).

Missions

Leader: Greg Hopper-Moore
Oversees EBF outreach, both locally and globally. Keeps in touch with EBF-supported missionaries and communicates prayer requests and news to others in the church. Coordinates support services for missionaries on furlough and reminds EBFers to pray for missionaries and their families.

WAYS TO SERVE
• Read missionary newsletters posted on entry bulletin board so you can pray specifically and appropriately.
• Regularly write letters to support missionaries.
• Give money to support missions (most are supported by donations).
• Help coordinate meals and other practical needs of missionaries returning to the United States.
• Support special projects for missionaries like sending school supplies and fundraising events.
• Create "Christmas in July" for an overseas missionary.

Prayer Chain

Leader: Evelyn Malpass
Joining together with other members of EBF who have a variety of spiritual gifts to pray for requests so a greater vision of God's will can be revealed.

WAYS TO SERVE
• Be on a list to receive phone and/or email requests.
• Pray with focus
• Be diligent to pray over each request
• Give thanks and praise for answers to prayer.
• Keep prayer requests confidential
• Encourage others to pray
• Spread awareness of God's power and faithfulness, thus encouraging others, bringing more unity and growing in our faith.

Ushers

Leader: Ray Bailey
Serving as ushers during EBF events.

WAYS TO SERVE
• Greet people at the doors of the Worship Center on Sunday mornings.
• Hand out Sunday Worship bulletins.
• Help people find available seating during Sunday services and other events.
• Take the offering on Sunday during Worship Service (as needed, not always every week).
• Pass out the elements of Communion (once a month).
• Be available to assist in time of emergency, being knowledgeable of medical personnel and procedures within EBF.
• Be on call during a service or event when something is needed (directions to restrooms, etc.)
• To be available, whatever the task, and know the appropriate action to be taken.
